Fertilizing in the fall is a necessity if you want a GREAT LAWN. In this video, I show you my fall nitrogen plan that has transformed my average lawn into one of the best looking lawns in my neighborhood.
I prefer using Urea or Ammonium Sulfate when fertilizing my lawn in the fall. The reason I like using these two fertilizers is because they are both fast release fertilizers. Using fast release fertilizers allow you to get results very quickly and control how much fertilizer you are feeding your grass. You can use slow release fertilizers with this fall nitrogen plan, but I would recommend that the fertilizer has at least some fast release nitrogen in it.
For established lawns, I would recommend applying 0.5 lbs of nitrogen every two weeks. This will allow your lawn to heal from summer stress and prepare it for the upcoming winter. For lawns that are unhealthy, thin, or look yellow I would recommend using 0.5 lbs of nitrogen every week. This will cause your grass to grow VERY FAST, so you have to stay on top of mowing. You do not want to stress your grass out by breaking the 1/3rd rule.
Within 4 weeks you should see great results! This will help get your lawn very green, thick, and healthy this fall. As well as prepare your lawn for winter and the upcoming spring!
