This is my version of the simplest fall lawn care plan possible. It involves killing weeds in the lawn while fertilizing for the remainder of the season. 10 days later we start the overseeding period where we repair bare or thin patches of grass well before winter dormancy sets in.
For this application we went with the Scotts Weed & Feed product that uses 2-4,D as it's centerpiece active ingredient.
If we lived in the south running St. Augustine or Centipede lawns we'd go with Scott's Bonus S which is the weed & feed that uses Atrazine, better suited to warm season grass types.
If we weren't planning on overseeding in the Fall we'd switch over to Scotts Trippel Action weed & feed which also contains a pre-emergent that will stop the germination of winter weeds.
