My side yard is wavy. In this video I walk you through the process I used to fill holes, bring up low spots, and try to bring my side yard close enough to smooth to be able to mow it with a 48 inch mower deck.

This process is fairly simple and really just involves a lot of manual labor. I used dirt for this project as I'm bringing some areas up as much as 3-5 inches and I didn't want that much sand. Start by scalping the yard to as short as possible, this makes moving dirt around on the ground easier. Fill and pack in any holes, fill and pack in the low spots, and then I chose to top dress the entire area just to deal with general bumpyness. After that, spread your seed, run over it with a leaf rake to let the seed settle into the soil and then water water water until established. I did seed a second time about 3 weeks after the first seeding to address areas that didn't quite take with the first effort.

I'm pleased with the results I got and I've been able to solve some problems over in this section of the yard that caused me some problems, not least of which was being stung by ground wasps.
