You will need a lawn tractor or zero-turn riding mower for anything more than around 10,000 square feet. Blowers are the next important piece of equipment. They come in corded, battery-powered, or gas. Corded is the least expensive but the biggest hassle. Battery powered is perfect for the average homeowner and gas is best when maintaining multiple properties. Backpack blowers offer the most power but come with a higher price. String trimmers are a must have for a beautiful lawn. Curved shaft trimmers are smaller and lighter, while straight shaft trimmers can be more easily used for edging and getting into tighter areas. Whether it be for weed-prevention or liquid fertilizers, a good sprayer is a must. The smallest are hand held pump sprayers, but backpack sprayers are the most ideal for the average homeowner. Last, you will need a quality fertilizer spreader. The size of the hopper and the quality of the materials like pneumatic tires will dictate the functionality and price of your spreader.
