It’s been my experience that the more I listen first and ask questions, the better my results will be.

All too often we try to swoop in to win the job, only to not ask the customer the important question: what is actual the problem? What are they actually looking for? What happened to the last guy? What did you not like about the previous company that you used?

Before you start selling yourself, my suggestion is to ask qualifying questions, and let the customer sell themselves.

Your ability to solve people’s problems will be predicated on asking the right questions, to the right people.
