Overgrown lawn mowing makeover time lapse in backyard after 2 months no #LawnCare. This overgrown lawn is weeds and overgrown grass going to seed. It needs weed control and fertilizer but that was not part of today's lawn mowing transformation, which was mostly mowing overgrown grass.

Pathway reveal

I did start a little side project here over the coming months to uncover hidden pathways. A small part of that is seen in this video. The weed eater has the thickest cord and that is all I used here to reveal part of a hidden pathway, instead of using a shovel or scraper. I might do that on another partly hidden path in the yard next time.

Grass cutting

Apparently there are mowing franchisees that are trained to do grass cutting with a string trimmer/weed eater first and then it is easier to mow the lawn. This is how I did it here. Half of this lawn makeover involves cutting grass down with the weed eater. That was useful in starting to uncover parts of a hidden pathway anyway. I also cut grass in garden beds that need further attention. You will see smoke pouring out of the string trimmer in one part of the grass cutting. Burning off excess oil!

Oh there's more but not filmed

This video was most of an overgrown yard cleanup. I trimmed grass in another garden bed and mowed over another path at one end of the yard but these were not filmed. There are a couple of bushes in a garden bed but these did not require a trim. The main focus is the back lawn, a couple of garden beds at the other end of the yard, and starting to uncover some of the hidden paths. The other paths will be worked on at the next visit or two.

Mowing, raking and cleaning

I then go over the lawn with the #Honda walk-behind lawn mower and empty the grass catcher a few times. You will see one of those times and the rest are edited out. No need for troll comments on the topic. Some raking up of grass, not shown here, and another mow, in 'mulch' mode, had the lawn looking reasonable but not great. I used the leaf blower to disperse some clumpy grass to finish the job.

Overgrown lawn before and after

The end result of the overgrown lawn mowing makeover transformation is satisfying to some people, no doubt, but it is not a great looking lawn. It is drying out and is full of weeds and is still an eyesore with quite visible bare dirt patches. It needs actual lawn care over time to bring it up to a healthy state. At least it is short in the end, like the customer wanted. I did things a bit differently for a change in this video by providing 'after' shots as photos from my phone rather than video camera footage. A different photo, from the video camera, is in the Community tab on this channel.

Lawn mowing time lapse video notes

The file size is just under 1Gb in SD. I forgot to set it to a higher quality but I watched on YouTube on a big screen TV and it still looks okay. See how the quality goes when you view it? The volume for this mowing overgrown lawn video has been lowered in editing to 30%. Mute if you need to instead of posting a negative comment that will only be removed.

Note that this file size is no longer accurate as several edits have occurred since publishing to shorten the video length.

Some of us have to make do with what we have for now. It is hard but you can help?

The aim for this channel for next year is to buy a little bit of extra camera equipment and a couple of string trimmers.

A Super Thanks when you comment can help "the little guy" more than you know. It is just one way to show your support. Give it a try via the 'Thanks' icon?
