The day we've been waiting for finally arrived. With our insurance all straightened out, we held our first volunteer workdays. So much was accomplished, and it was so wonderful to make new friends and work alongside others who care about this incredible house. Everyone had fun and the yard is looking great. We are just weeks away from our first event, the Galveston Steampunk Festival. The event is hosting a picnic on our lawn and we want to be sure this house shows off as best she can.
This once abandoned Victorian mansion is undergoing a massive restoration. Designed by noted architect Nicholas Clayton, this Galveston historical treasure is slowly back to life. Restoration of this historic house is not easy, and the extensive yard and gardens add to the complexity and expense. Preservation of the original features is high on the priority list. Follow the journey from start to finish. It’s a tough, hot, sweaty, and very expensive road but worth every minute of it.
