I live in the Northeast, but this will work for any cool season Spring lawn (Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, fine fescue, and tall fescue). Keep it simple is what I say. Simply start by evaluating, planning, light raking and then mow if needed or just fertilize (once a month). Once done make sure to get your first pre-emergent down around the middle/end of March. The sooner the better. Then just mow through April. Super simple. If you have a large yard, a very light dethatching works too. If you are using a two behind dethatcher like my Brinly, put it on a higher setting, no not drag it along the soil.
